Steve Stratton: Heavy Bow archer and "Master Bowyer" with The Craft Guild of Bowyers and Fletchers.

Steve has been shooting heavier weight longbows since 2003 and in this short time has managed to shoot bows up to 125lb. He has been making bows commercially since 2005 and in this short time has gained extensive knowledge of the military longbow, or warbow.  He was responsible for re-introducing high altitude Italian yew, used for making heavy draw weight longbows, and has been supplying these to customers since 2005.

His research of the Mary Rose finds, along with Mark Stretton, has helped him in his pursuit of recreating the military bows of our past.  He can be seen at various medieval shows both here in the UK and in Europe doing demonstrations and selling his wares.  In 2006 he won the UK Flight Shooting Nationals and has always been competitive with his distance shooting.

He was one of the 3 founding members of ETAS (European Traditional archery Society) and runs the annual 2-day event at Batsford in Gloucestershire, which brings together archers from all over Europe to compete in their own traditional bow styles and also have a bit of a party! Steve was also one of the founder members of the EWBS (English Warbow Society).
